Routine Check up

Routine check-ups are very important because if a health issue is diagnosed early, the chances for treatment and curing the issue is much higher. During a routine check-up, your medical history and family history will be discussed. You will also be given a physical exam, and if necessary, you may need to have blood work done to test for heart issues, diabetes or have a cholesterol screening.

Allergy Testing

Allergy testing is performed in order to determine if your body is allergic to a specific substance. The three main types of allergens are inhaled allergens, contact allergens and ingested allergens and it can be very important to know what it is specifically that causes an allergic reaction in your body. The two types of allergy tests are skin tests and blood tests, and skin tests are usually tried first to determine the cause. During a skin test, a small amount of the different allergens are placed onto the skin and your reaction will be monitored. If the skin test is inconclusive, a blood test may be advised.

Annual & Sport Physical

An annual sports physical is necessary for your child in order for them to participate in a sports’ practice or game. Sports physicals will identify if the athlete is at a higher risk to suffer from an injury and will assess if it is safe for them to play the sport. In addition to taking a medical history and family history, a sports physical will also consist of a height/weight assessment, a cardiac screening, vision assessment and musculoskeletal exam.

Flu Shots

Influenza, or the flu, is a very contagious virus that is typically present from October through March. While most healthy people can recover from the flu within a few weeks, there are some people who are considered to be at a high risk, including children under 5 years old, people with a chronic illness, women who are pregnant, the elderly and people with a compromised immune system. One of the best ways to prevent getting the flu is to get a flu shot in September or October, before the start of the flu season.

STD Testing

An untreated sexually transmitted disease (STD) can cause very serious health complications. If you have had unprotected sex, it is important that you have an STD screening to make sure that your health is not put at risk and that you do not risk spreading the disease to others. Some people who have an STD do not experience any symptoms, which is why testing is so important.
